3D-PRINTABLE CHESS SET

For this project, I made mice differentiated by hairstyles which correspond to the silhouettes of a traditional chess set

I plotted points based on my sketches to create a low poly base with planar surfaces

Here are some pictures of the practice and remaining set in Prusa slicer

For the printing process, each piece took about half an hour to complete

Here is the rear view of the set

And the renders:

From left to right, the hairstyle concepts were:
  • Connecting the pawn's sideburns to the queen (tying to how pawns can be promoted)
  • ... Spiky hair that resembles a rook
  • Double mohawk thing reminiscent of a horse's mane
  • Super short bob that I associate with classical/ medieval (?) clergy
  • Tall, scepter-like hair for the king
  • A more expressive mohawk for the queen to reflect how the piece moves
